2008 Theme Verse
Each year we ask God to give us a special Scripture which will prove to be very significant to Calvary Church. For 2008, we have felt God lead us to three specific verses.
theme 1

Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations”.
Our world in 2008, is a world in great turmoil. A significant US Presidential election; the 2008 Olympics in China; a volatile global economy and several nations embroiled in civil war create world-wide anxiety. God invites us to quite ourselves, and find peace in knowing Him, exalting Him as Sovereign over all.

Isaiah 45:22 “Turn to Me and be saved all you ends of the earth,
for I am God and there is no other.”

Our world in 2008 clamors with religious claims and calls from every corner of the continents. In America and Western Europe, from which the missionaries have gone for over a century, there is great spiritual confusion. God calls Calvary Church to clarity…what is the Gospel? Why is Jesus Christ the ONLY way to God, to salvation and to eternal life in heaven? We declare Biblical truth with confidence.

theme2

Psalm 51:10,12 “Create in me a pure heart O God, and renew a steadfast spirit
within me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing
spirit to sustain me.”

We sense God desires to move across Walworth County and around the world in an unusual spiritual revival among His people in 2008, as He has in centuries past. Historically any “great awakenings” of significant numbers of people coming to life transforming faith in Christ, have been preceded by revival’s among God’s people. At Calvary Church, we will posture ourselves in 2008 hungering for a fresh moving of God’s Holy Spirit among us.

It is our hope our theme verses captivate your heart! We urge you to memorize them, learning to quote them often as the Holy Spirit applies them specifically to your life in special moments of need. We anticipate God will use these Scriptures powerfully in our lives in 2008.

The “background pictures” have been intentionally chosen. The skyline of Jerusalem reflects a part of the world in frequent turmoil, yet a place precious to God and very significant to all followers of Christ. The fresh hillside snow represents the purity and cleansing available to us only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and the personal work of the Holy Spirit of God.
